Important Details

Before you book the tour, we quickly want you to know us a little. We are tied with the Pacific Whale Foundation, where we’re all about protecting our beautiful coral reefs and keeping our oceans healthy. This is why we’re big fans of using protective clothing and reef-safe sunscreen (please apply it on a sunny day).

We’re fully on board with Hawaii’s ban on sunscreens containing harmful chemicals like oxybenzone and octinoxate, and starting in November 2019, we’re taking it a step further by banning certain sunscreens on our vessels, too. These include oxybenzone, octinoxate, avobenzone, homosalate, and a few others that can stress out the reefs.

When shopping for sunscreen, make sure to read the ingredients carefully. Terms like “reef safe” can be thrown around as a marketing gimmick, but not all of them are actually good for the environment. Please go for a sunscreen with non-nano zinc oxide, like the ones we offer in our Ocean Store. Again, we’re offering our Mahalo for helping us protect the ocean!

Just a heads-up: we’re no longer allowing full-face snorkel masks on our eco-tours as we’re unsure about their use and are not comfortable providing them to you.
